250+, most of which are at my parents’ place.
Hardcover or soft?
I love hardcover books. Opening a book for the first time and hearing the book spine crackle….uhmmmm. Unfortunately, I’m limited by space and budget. =(
What genre comprises the bulk of your collection?
It’s fairly evenly distributed between the classics, sci-fi, romance, essays/short stories and historical fiction.
How are your books organized?
The floor-to-ceiling bookcases in my old room are a physical manifestation of my split personality. The bookcase to the left of the desk is filled with popular fiction – the romances, histories, spy thrillers and sci-fi. On the right is my treasure trove of classics ranging from Austin to Dickens to Rizal to Tolstoy.
What’s your favourite bookstore in the world? Why?
My new favourite – La Solidaridad, arguably the best little boutique bookstore in the Philippines. I stayed just long enough to pick up some books by F Sionel Jose but I will definitely be back.
What was the last book you read?
Status Anxiety by Alain de Button.
What literary character do you most identify with and why?
Hmmm…. Do I now confess that I’m a Shopaholic? =)
What book do you admire most from a stylistic standpoint?
Right now, I’m a big Alain de Button fan.
What book made the biggest impression on you when you were a child?
Little House on a Prairie. It fired up my imagination more than any other book I had at the time.
What book have you read the most?
Pride and Prejudice.
What five books would you want on a desert island?
5 books? I won’t be able to survive! How about 5 authors?
Douglas Adams. Alain de Button. David Eddings. Nick Joaquin. Julie Garwood.
So… What’s on YOUR bookshelf?
